What a time it’s been for MMA fans! Dating back to last November, the UFC began it’s “Time is Now” campaign, which will at least go through May of this year. The perfect examples of this were UFC 181 last December, last week’s UFC 185, and moreso than any other card, the legendary UFC 187 card in May.
Even the FIght Nights have been good, despite not being “stacked” like the pay-per-view cards. Unfortunately, this card has fallen through the cracks. That’s not because the card was originally supposed to be that way. Instead, Injuries rattled the card throughout the main card, turning what was a promising, loaded Fight Night card, into a “meh” Fight Pass level event.
Just as this card has been riddled by injuries, my time has been riddled by school, institutional work, sleeping issues, and much, much more. Hence the hefty (about 50) drafts I have clogged up.
Time is of the essence even now, so I’ll make my prelim picks super quick.
Fight Pass Prelims (7/6c, UFC Fight Pass)
Bentley SIler vs. Fredy Serrano Prediction: Serrano via smothering decision.
Jorge de Oliveira vs. Christos Giagos
Giagos is a former RFA champ, so I’ll pick him to survive. Prediction: Giagos via decision.
Televised Prelims (8/7c, FS2)
Cain Carrisoza vs. Leandro Mafra Prediction: Mafra via decision/late tko.
Leandro Silva vs. Drew Dober
Props to Dober for retiring Jamie Varner. Unfortunately, Varner may have been washed up, and Dober is barely UFC worthy, in my opinion. Prediction: Silva via decision.
Kevin Souza (15-3) vs. Katsunori Kikuno (23-6-2)
Ah, yes. The only prelim fight that’s definitely worth watching! Everyone’s picking Souza, who’s on a streak. However, I’ll go with the underrated Japanese star. Prediction: Kikuno via tko, round 2.
Akbarh Arreola vis Francisco Trinaldo: Prediction: Trinaldo via decision.
