UFC Fight Night 77: Belfort vs. Henderson 3 prelim quick picks

UFC fans, it’s finally time! For the first time since October 3rd, the UFC is putting forth a decent card! The main card is chock full of entertaining bouts, and while the prelims aren’t exactly loaded, they do consist of various notable fighters, and some of the fights could be fun.

Without further ado, here are my quick picks for tonight’s prelims.

Fight Pass Prelims (6:30/5:30c, UFC Fight Pass)

Jimmie Rivera vs. Pedro Munhoz

Munhoz is back from his suspension, and I see the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt pulling off a submission to mark his return. Prediction: Munhoz via submission, round 2.

Viscardi Andrade vs. Gasan Umalatov

Everyone is overlooking Andrade in this one. He was part of the underrated TUF: Brazil 2, and he fared better than anyone expected. He’s always an underdog, but I see him winning a decision tonight. Prediction: Andrade via unanimous decision.

Televised prelims (8/7c, FS1)

Chas Skelly vs. Kevin Souza

Of all the fights on tonight’s prelim slate, this one’s the best bet to be a fun one. Both men are capable of putting on a show, and are high-level prospects. I see Skelly being the one with a brighter upside, and I believe he’ll secure the decision. Prediction: Skelly via unanimous decision.

Clay Guida vs. Thiago Tavares

Wait, Guida is still fighting? Apparently, he is, and he’s still exhausting to watch. Thiago is more of a finisher, and like Guida, he excels on the ground. I’d love to see him submit Guida, but I see “The Carpenter” winning this one in controversial fashion. Prediction: Guida via split decision.

Johnny Case vs. Yan Cabral

Everybody’s picking Case, as they were Umalatov. I see this one going the opposite way, just like that fight. Prediction: Cabral via stunning tko, round 2.

Gleison Tibau vs. Abel Trujillo

The headlining prelim fight will either be a snoozefest, or end in highlight reel fashion. That’s because Tibau blankets his opponents, while Trujillo is known for being in barn burners. If Trujillo can avoid the ground, he’ll win this one. However, I see the Brazilian veteran extend his UFC record by getting his 17th promotional victory. Prediction: Tibau via smothering decision.
