NFL Week 10 early game predictions

Guess who didn’t sleep for a second last night? That’s right, I’m still amped about last night’s upset courtesy of Holly Holm, so I’m dead tired. As a result, here are some quick picks for today’s early games.

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers (FOX)

How sad is it when a one-win team is part of the showcase game on FOX? Sadly, that is the case. I see the Lions having their moments, while the Packers get back on track, in a game that will probably be closer than many believe it will be. Prediction: Lions 17, Packers 30.

Miami Dolphins at Philadelphia Eagles (CBS)

This game is quite a puzzle. Both teams have the ability to be explosive, but rarely are. This game is one where either team can blow the other out, or it could be a close one. I’ll go with the home team, just because. Prediction: Dolphins 24, Eagles 31.

Dallas Cowboys at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (FOX)

Well, it’s come down to this. All of a sudden, a game that was supposed to be a gimme for the Cowboys has become a must-win that can go either way. Jameis Winston is playing well, and Tony Romo is still not available to play. I’ll go with the Cowboys, just because. Prediction: Cowboys 27, Bucs 24 (the gut begs to differ though.

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers (CBS)

So Ben Roethlisberger is not starting, and Leveon Bell is out for the year. That said, I don’t care if the Steelers had a ham sandwich as their starting quarterback. I’d still pick them to pick the Browns. Besides, if they need him, they can get Ben to play in relief. I see them winning in old school fashion. Prediction: Browns 13, Steelers 24.

Carolina Panthers at Tennessee Titans (FOX)

On paper, this game is a wash. The Panthers are the only unbeaten team in the NFC, and the Titans have only two wins. However, they play to play teams late, while the Panthers have a knack for being in games that are way too close for comfort. The Panthers will win,but not by a wide margin. Prediction: Panthers 27, Titans 17.

Chicago Bears at St. Louis Rams (CBS)

The Rams are a good team, and the Bears are better than their record says they are. The Rams have an elite defense, but I won’t be too surprised if there’s an upset in this one. I’m not betting on it though. Prediction: Bears 23, Rams 27.

New Orleans Saints at Washington Redskins (FOX)

This game will be close, since the Saints have a porous defense, and both teams have trouble holding onto leads. Expect a few turnovers and several fireworks. Prediction: Saints 31, Redskins 23.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Baltimore Ravens (FOX)

FInally, there’s another game with two teams with bad records. The Jaguars are better than their record says they are, but they’re not very good yet. Meanwhile, the Ravens have been plagued by various injuries, and are struggling to stay afloat. They are still the Ravens though, and I just can’t see them losing to the Jaguars, especially at home. Expect a close one. Prediction: Jaguars 20, Ravens 23, OT.
