December 31st, ESPN
Peach Bowl (Noon ET)
(18)Houston (12-1) vs. (9) Florida State (10-2)
Houston is an explosive team, while Florida State had a great running back in Dalvin Cook. Quarterback Everett Gholson won’t play, and I think that will cost the Noles. Prediction: Houston 27, Florida State 24.
Playoff semifinal #1: Orange Bowl (4 ET)
(4) Oklahoma (11-1) vs. (1) Clemson (13-0)
The first playoff semifinal involves a pair of powerful offenses and underrated defenses. Both quarterbacks were Heisman contenders, and the supporting casts are solid. Both teams also have a habit of choking. I think it will be a coin – flip game, and my head says Clemson, but I’m picking OU. Prediction: Oklahoma 38, Clemson 34.
Semifinal #2: Cotton Bowl (8 ET)
(3) Michigan State (12-1) vs. (2) Alabama (12-1)
I’d love to see Michigan State win. That said, I’m not sold on Connor Cook, the Big Ten, or Sparty. Also, Derrick Henry is the best player on the field. I see the Heisman winner getting a huge workload, en route to a tough, defensive win for the Crimson Tide. Prediction: Michigan State 17, Alabama 23.
